What's truly remarkable about this gaita band is that it's been said that the history of gaita music is divided into before and after Los Guaco. While this was precisely the criticism leveled by the more traditional sectors of gaita music—a criticism they've never forgiven—this group transformed the Zulia rhythm, which was traditionally played with tambora, furro, cuatro, and charrasca, into a style now played much like they did in their early days. Their legacy since the 1970s has been the introduction of electric guitars and pianos, bongos, congas, and cowbells.
Guaco has been performing in Miami, Puerto Rico, Bogotá, the United States, Japan, and Europe, and now for the first time in Argentina and Chile. This tour has given them the opportunity to share the stage with music legends such as Rubén Blades, Luis Enrique, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Chayanne, Celia Cruz, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Elvis Crespo, Oscar D' León, and the group Guayacán, among others.
